Sfb288 logo Sfb 288 Differential Geometry and Quantum Physics

Structure

The Sfb is made up of staff and students from the following institutions:-

Geometry Group at Technische Universität Berlin
Mathematical Physics Group at Technische Universität Berlin
Mathematical Physics Group at Freie Universität Berlin
Differential Geometry Group at Humboldt-Universität Berlin
Mathematical Physics Group at Universität Potsdam
Mathematical Physics (Semi-classics and asymptotics) Group at Universität Potsdam

The Sfb provides a framework for cooperation between institutions of higher education in the Berlin district. The resources in the fields of mathematical physics and differential geometry uniquely available in Berlin are brought together and coordinated. The Sfb also has close links with the Graduiertenkolleg Geometry and Nonlinear Analysis at Humboldt-Universität Berlin.

By inviting guest researchers, organizing of meetings and conferences, the publication of scientific literature, etc., new international collaborations can be established and build upon the already existing contacts (especially with eastern Europe). The Sfb also strengthens the interdisciplinary nature of the Mathematics Department of Technische Universität Berlin.

By exploiting the diverse resources available, the Sfb provides a valuable contribution in promoting the reputation of Berlin as an international center for science.

Within Germany the Sfb has links to the following institutions:

SFB 256 "Nichtlineare Partielle Differentialgleichungen", Universität Bonn
Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik, Bonn
